Velkommen!
Fjell og Fjord is a Sons of Norway Junior Lodge and Norwegian folkdancing group that features youth from the Twin Cities area. The Fjell og Fjord Junior Lodge meets the third Saturday of every month for cultural studies, language, crafts, outings and winter sports. Offices are held by elected officials, with a current age range of ten to eighteen years old. Youth aged six to eighteen are welcome to join as new members. There is no fee other than Sons of Norway membership.
Activities
Fjell og Fjord members explore both contemporary and traditional aspects of Norwegian culture and language. From Vikings to kickball, weaving to theatre, and everything in between, the lodge devotes its time to having fun Norwegian-American style. We learn some Norwegian language, hear stories, and have special guests demonstrating rosemaling, hardanger fiddle playing and many other instruments. We do skits, make chain mail, cook and bake traditional foods, sing songs, and have stimulating discussions. We also skate, ski, and hike! Junior lodge members elect lodge officers and vote on upcoming activities. We also offer folkdancing to members twice a month, although participation is not required.
